MAXIMUS 2 MIN
TOURBILLON
MAXIMUS will always represent the largest tourbillon from Maison KERBEDANZ, which is why it has the same name as its predecessor. This time MAXIMUS becomes faster, completely redesigned, reimagined to give it a unique and immediately recognizable appearance: MAXIMUS GR8 TOURBILLON 2 MINUTES.
MAXIMUS 2 MIN
THE LARGEST TOURBILLON IN THE WORLD
Same legacy but
different philosophy
The excellence of a KERBEDANZ timepiece resides in both its architecture and its materials. With the MAXIMUS GR8, we introduced a tourbillon movement of unprecedented scale, requiring entirely custom components.
This movement has been redesigned and refined to achieve a more contemporary aesthetic, embodying precision, reliability, and modern elegance through KERBEDANZ’s patented technologies.
Like the MAXIMUS 6MIN Tourbillon, the GR8 edition carries the same legacy. In ancient Rome, the title Maximus was given to the high priest of the College of Pontiffs, guardian of sacred rites and the Empire’s Great Annals.
Later adopted by emperors, it came to symbolize supreme greatness — a grandeur embodied by the Circus Maximus, the vast arena built in the 6th century BC for horse and chariot races.
The MAXIMUS GR8 embodies bold innovation, moving beyond classical heritage to express a truly avant-garde vision. With its sculptural futuristic case and a tourbillon rotating three times faster than its predecessor, it represents a feat of precision and mastery.
Each second becomes a display of motion and control, a fusion of design and mechanics that redefines time. More than a timepiece, the MAXIMUS GR8 stands as a symbol of speed, elegance, and innovation without limits.
The monumental central tourbillon of the MAXIMUS GR8, housed beneath a sapphire dome and shaped like a three-branched star, reveals the complexity of its mechanism.
Its integration within the movement, dial, and case was a remarkable technical achievement that preserves KERBEDANZ’s watchmaking tradition. Visible from the dial side, the tourbillon completes one rotati
The hour and minute discs are visible, each carrying specially crafted hands. The large transparent sapphire crystal, with anti-reective coating, features a complex tonneau-octagonal-spherical design that both showcases and protects the dial and tourbillon.
This architecture provides enough space for the tourbillon’s height while keeping the case elegantly slim.
Why such a monumental tourbillon ?
The hour and minute discs are visible, each carrying specially crafted hands. The large transparent sapphire crystal, with anti-reective coating, features a complex tonneau-octagonal-spherical design that both showcases and protects the dial and tourbillon. This architecture provides enough space for the tourbillon’s height while keeping the case elegantly slim.
The MAXIMUS case back features a distinctive winding system above a transparent sapphire crystal, revealing four parallel barrels driving a central gear on ball bearings to power the 40 mm movement and its oversized tourbillon.
Reinforced gears manage the immense torque with stability and precision. The 54-hour power reserve and manual winding are both operated from the back through a circular key with a protected ratchet mechanism
The exceptional MAXIMUS GR8 movement, entirely designed, manufactured, and decorated by KERBEDANZ, is a hand-wound mechanical masterpiece with 460 components, including a 73-part titanium tourbillon cage weighing only 1.35 grams.
Measuring 8.35 mm in height (13.2 mm with the tourbillon), it features a variable inertia balance of 400 g/cm², ensuring stability and shock resistance. Each of its 415 visible and hidden parts is finished by hand using traditional haute horlogerie techniques such as chamfering, brushing, circular graining, and mirror polishing.
GRADE 5 TITANIUM
The MAXIMUS tourbillon cage is made of grade 5 titanium, a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, which enables the gear train to function effortlessly. The alloy is 90% grade 5 titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. This combination further increases the material’s mechanical properties, which explains its frequent use in very exigent areas like the aerospace, aeronautics and automotive industries.
